The Alcian Blu pH 2.5 PAS kit is indicated for the differentiation of mucins and carbohydrates.
The Alcian Blue pH 2.5 PAS staining kit is characterized by the association of two stains: Alcian Blue pH 2.5 which stains mucopolysaccharides and acid glycoproteins, both sulfurated and carboxylated and the subsequent PAS reaction which highlights the PAS-positive substances with a deep red color, traditionally defined as magenta. By way of example we can mention among the PAS-positive substances glycogen, mucins, basement membranes and cartilage.
