The May Grünwald Giemsa staining kit for tissue sections is characterized by the combination of two stains: the May Grünwald solution which stains the cores blue and the basophilic cytoplasms pink and the versatile Giemsa solution, which strengthens the staining given by the May Grünwald solution. 

The intensity of staining is influenced by the pH of the wash water and buffer used and the differentiation time.
