The Ziehl-Neelsen staining kit is indicated for staining mycobacteria on tissue sections.
In the Ziehl-Neelsen stain, mycobacteria are stained with red carbolfuchsin and, thanks to the particular composition of the bacterial wall, they maintain the red color even after acid treatment. The background is then counterstained with methylene blue.
