Acqueous mounting medium - 1223

Mixture of vinyl resins in aqueous solution, for preparation of cyto-histological samples for examination by optical microscopy.

Aqueous mounting medium, mainly used for haematological preparations subjected to staining with enzymatic cytochemical reactions.

Suitable for:

• fixed and stained cytological smears, e. g. sputum, fine needle aspiration biopsies (FNAB), rinses, imprints, effusions;
• formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded, histologically stained tissue specimens (3 - 5 µm thick paraffin sections) or stained cryo sections;
• air-dried, heat-fixed, and stained smears of bacteriological specimen material, e. g. liquid and solid enrichment cultures of bacteria from body fluids, exsudates, pus;
• enzyme cytochemically processed and stained blood or bone-marrow smears;

As a result of the glass-similar refractive properties of the cover glass, the sample can now be observed under a microscope without any interference. Aqueous mounting media should be used especially with specimens prepared for enzyme and lipid determinations i.e. specimens that must not be dehydrated with an ascending series of alcohol.
